History

The District “B” Officials Association (DBOA) has been servicing the core of Ottawa for many years. At one point in time, the DBOA was in fact three separate districts, District 6, District 7, and District 8. When the new BMHL formed, the three Districts decided to merge allowing officials a larger area to cover and grow their skills.

Being one of the largest Districts within Hockey Eastern Ontario, the DBOA continues to push our officials to becoming the best they can be. With close to 130 officials in our Association, and 60 more every year trying out to become a new official, we always look to improve on our programs in place.

Currently the DBOA is always recognized in HEO as being:

  • One of the best supervision programs
  • One of the best mentorship programs
  • One of the top development programs

This is apparent by how many officials we continue to develop who move on the higher hockey, such as:

  • The AA/AAA Central Assignor List.
  • The U18/Senior Body Assignor List for JR Hockey.
  • CIS/AHL
  • NHL

These contributions could not be done without a strong team of volunteers both past and present. Our executive are not the only folks who help out, we still have Mentors, On-Ice Officials Coaches, on-ice helpers and many other volunteers as roles come up.

DBOA continues to push our officials to be the best we can be. We look forward to seeing what the future has for our officials!
