DBOA Bids Farewell to One of its Own

The DBOA was saddened this fall to lose one of our own.  Daniel Spence, an over 10 year veteran of our association, lost his life in late September.  Aside from his officiating family which included our entire association, Daniel’s own immediate family often took to the ice with him as well, with both his father and brother officiating hockey in District B.  Daniel was an excellent official, taking great pride in his work.  He could always be counted on for a joke or fun story in the dressing room before and after games, and could rarely be found without a smile on his face.  Many officials in the district are donning helmet stickers in honour of our friend, of which you will find an image below.

Rest easy Dan.  We miss you.  Today we celebrate your life along with many other of your family and friends, but still wish we could work even just one more game with you on our crew.  We’ll honour your memory by giving our best every time we step on the ice, just as you always did!! #brotherinstripes
